About the College of International Finance and Trade, ZYUFL
The College of International Finance and Trade, one of the colleges of Zhejiang Yuexiu University of Foreign Languages(ZYUFL), is located in the Jinghu campus.
Presently, the College of International Finance and Trade has a teaching staff of 36 regular teachers among whom 50% are full or associate professors, 94.5% have received master’s and/or doctoral degrees and 15 teaches have received doctoral degrees. In order to promote the establishment of academic community and provide talents support for high teaching quality, the college has built multi-level platforms for teacher development through different channels such as vigorously implementing “High-level Talents Introduction Plan”, promoting “Doctor Introduction and Cultivation”, “The Plan of Cultivating Young and Middle-aged Backbone Teachers”, the plan to send teachers to pursue further study abroad, etc. The College of International Finance and Trade includes three departments: the Department of International Trade, the Department of Fiancé and the Department of Taxation which offer four majors for undergraduates: International Economy and Trade, Financial Engineering, Investments and Taxation among which the International Economy and Trade has been listed as Zhejiang provincial emerging characteristic specialty. The college has two Shaoxing Municipal Experimental Teaching Demonstration Centers: the Economic Management Experimental Teaching Center and the International Business Experimental Teaching Center. Following the school’s outline of “being based on art discipline supplemented by economics and management to achieve the harmonious integration of different disciplines” and with the advantage of economic discipline as the university-level key discipline, the college has developed the following research directions: Culture and Innovation Industry Management, Industry Structure Adjustment and Upgrading, Financial Innovation and Development, Regional Economy and Enterprise Development, International Trade Theory and Practice, etc. Our teachers have made steady progress in scientific research and teaching research. In recent three years, our teachers have sponsored four municipal government-support research projects and issued seven papers on first grade journals.
Taking full advantage of our school’s 13 foreign language disciplines and comprehensively implementing talents cultivation strategy of “foreign language plus”, the college aims to cultivate applicational, multi-functional talents with “global vision, patriotism and social responsibility”. This talents cultivation mode highlights three major features: (1) Strengthening foreign language learning. By adopting the mode of “foreign language public platform plus professional English”, foreign language educational module ensures that undergraduates have access to foreign language study throughout the four years. What’s more, other channels are also developed to help strengthen students’ foreign language learning such as opening bilingual course, establishing full-English teaching “international class” and ensuring English/bilingual teaching for professional backbone courses. (2) Emphasizing practical experience. The course offering largely depends on local economic specialty and international business development trend. The college has built a platform for students to learn professional knowledge and skills by establishing more than 50 off-campus practice bases through close cooperation with famous enterprises such as Alibaba Group, Hangzhou Pute Education Group, etc. and by inviting well-known entrepreneurs to give face-to-face instruction to our students. This model of school-enterprise cooperation creates ideal environment for teaching practice. (3) Internationally-oriented. Various academic degree obtaining projects have been launched through cooperation with more than ten overseas universities in America, Britain, Australia, France, Canada, New Zealand, Korea, Japan, etc. Those projects include short-term visits for academic purpose, study tour, “3+1” educational mode for four-year students, “3+1+1” educational mode for four-year students to pursue postgraduate degree, etc., aiming to encourage students to pursue overseas study, strengthen their professional abilities and broaden their global view.
Strictly observing school’s guiding principle of cultivating highly qualified, global-minded and application-oriented talents and setting the goal of “aiming high, working down to earth, dedicating to ordinary jobs and striving for excellence”, the college aims to strengthen Party’s construction work, promote college’s development, enhance teaching quality and develop innovative directions. Under the guidance of the school motto of “Harmony, Integrity, Cultivation and Success” as well as the campus culture of “Confidence, Harmony, Competition and Humanity”, the college has organized various forms of voluntary service with international characteristics and launched trainings on entrepreneurship and innovation among students. For many years, the employment rate and the percentage of graduates who signed contracts with employers have always remained above 98% and 95% respectively. Our graduates have been well received by society and employers due to their solid foundation of professional knowledge and comprehensive quality.
